Custom software development — for problems off-the-shelf can’t fit.
Bespoke platforms designed and built end-to-end by AI-native engineers — modern in stack, defensible in architecture, and operable from the first release.

Build where it buys an advantage.
Off-the-shelf solves the generic part of a problem. The part that is actually your business is where custom engineering earns its place.
We build the systems that run operations, carry the brand, or connect an estate together: internal platforms, customer-facing apps, and the integration backbones between them. Architected to scale and instrumented from the first commit.
The test we hold every feature to is simple: does building this ourselves buy a durable advantage, or are we rebuilding something we should have bought? We’ll tell you when the answer is “buy it”.
Four shapes of custom system.
Most engagements are one of these, or a composition of them.
Internal platforms
Operational systems for the people running the business — back office, supply chain, fulfilment, scheduling, partner portals. The tools that decide whether a process takes minutes or days.
Customer-facing apps
Web and mobile experiences — onboarding, self-service, transactions, account management — where performance, accessibility and uptime are the brand.
Integration backbones
Service buses, event-driven spines, partner APIs and B2B exchange platforms that let a fragmented estate behave like one system.
Industry platforms
Loyalty engines, distribution systems, planning and scheduling software — the categories where the off-the-shelf market is thin and the domain logic is the moat.
How a typical build is layered.
The shape we reach for.
Not every system needs every layer — but this is the shape we reach for, and the seams we design against.
Decisions we make before we write features.
Boundaries before components
We model the domain and draw service boundaries along real business seams — not database tables. Coupling that follows the business is coupling you can live with; coupling that follows the schema is technical debt with a delivery date.
Contracts you can depend on
Every seam gets an explicit contract — an API schema or event definition — that’s versioned and contract-tested. Teams either side can move independently because the promise between them is written down and enforced by CI.
Data model as a first-class artefact
The data model outlives the code that reads it. We invest in it early: normalised where integrity matters, denormalised where read performance does, with migrations that are reversible and rehearsed.
Observability from the first commit
Structured logs, metrics and traces go in with the first feature, not after the first incident. If it’s in production, it’s instrumented — you can answer “what is it doing right now” without adding code under pressure.
Decisions on the record
Every significant call lands in an Architecture Decision Record: the context, the options, the trade-off, the choice. Later on, nobody has to reverse-engineer why the system is the way it is.
What the board is actually buying.
Build what sets you apart.
Off-the-shelf hands your competitors the same tools. Custom is where you build the capability they cannot simply buy.
Value along the way.
Releases that carry value along the way — not one big-bang bet that only pays off at the end.
A predictable, reversible bet.
Fixed-shape phases, progress you can see at every step, and a discovery exit ramp before the largest spend is committed.
A clear path from first call to production.
Discovery
A written brief, an architecture sketch, a roadmap, a risk register and a costed range. Enough to decide with, whether or not we build it.
Architecture
ADRs, API contracts, the data model, deployment topology and a security plan — the load-bearing decisions, made and documented before the feature factory starts.
Iterative delivery
Short sprints against a prioritised backlog, at a rhythm agreed with you. Demoable progress every sprint, code review on every change, and production deploys as early as the work allows.
Operate & evolve
Hardening, runbooks, dashboards and load testing — then an operate-and-evolve rhythm where the roadmap keeps moving and reliability is a tracked number.
Tangible deliverables, not slideware.
- A working production system
- Infrastructure-as-code for every environment
- ADRs and a system overview
- OpenAPI docs + a data dictionary
- A test suite wired into CI
- Runbooks + observability dashboards
When custom is the right call — and when it isn’t.
A workflow that is core to how you compete, an integration no vendor sells, a data model unique to your business, or a product where the software is the business. Build where the software is a durable advantage.
A solved, generic problem with a mature market — payroll, email, CRM, accounting. If a configurable SaaS covers most of it, custom is an expensive way to take on a maintenance liability. We’ll say so.
